We promote collaboration across various sciences to enrich the understanding and application of knowledge.

Translational Bioengineering for Regenerative Applications

Section: Biotechnology & Bioengineering

Why This Special Issue?

Advances in bioengineering are rapidly transforming the field of regenerative medicine. As the global burden of chronic disease, tissue degeneration, and organ failure continues to rise, innovative strategies are needed to repair, regenerate, or replace damaged tissues and biological systems.

Translational bioengineering integrates engineering principles, molecular biology, biomaterials science, and clinical medicine to bridge the gap between laboratory discoveries and therapeutic applications. Recent breakthroughs in stem cell engineering, gene modulation technologies, biomimetic scaffolds, and bioactive materials are enabling the development of next-generation regenerative therapies.

Modern regenerative approaches increasingly combine multiple technological platforms, including:

  • Biomimetic scaffold design and tissue engineering systems
  • Stem cell bioengineering and cellular reprogramming
  • Precision gene modulation using CRISPR-based technologies
  • Epigenome editing and RNA-targeting platforms
  • Bioactive materials and regenerative biomaterials
  • Controlled molecular signaling for tissue repair and regeneration

These interdisciplinary advances are reshaping regenerative medicine and creating new opportunities for translational therapies capable of addressing previously untreatable conditions.

Aim & Scope of This Special Issue

Regenerative medicine is evolving into a highly interdisciplinary field where bioengineering innovations translate fundamental biological discoveries into clinical therapies. This Special Issue focuses on the development of translational bioengineering technologies that enable tissue regeneration, cellular repair, and therapeutic reconstruction of biological systems.

We seek high-quality research that bridges biomaterials science, stem cell engineering, gene regulation technologies, and clinical translation to accelerate the development of regenerative solutions. Submissions are encouraged from researchers working at the intersection of bioengineering, molecular biology, regenerative medicine, and translational biotechnology.
