Biography
Dr. Wei-Hsien Liu is a dedicated research scholar currently serving as a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Physiology, College of Medicine, University of Kentucky, USA. With a strong background in biochemistry, Dr. Liu’s research focuses on understanding the intricate dynamics of microbial systems and their impact on human health. His work at the University of Kentucky centers on exploring how brain nuclei involved in stress response, memory, and appetite regulation respond to timed food intake and anti-diabetic drugs.
Previously, Dr. Liu was a Scientist at Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group Co., Ltd., where he led groundbreaking probiotics research, contributing to the company's emergence as a leader in functional dairy products. His efforts in this role resulted in the development of proprietary probiotics, the publication of numerous research studies, and the acquisition of several patents.
Dr. Liu's academic journey includes a Ph.D. from the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, where he focused on microbiome research and co-investigated clinical research projects. His work has earned him recognition in both academic and industrial circles, particularly for his contributions to probiotics and microbiota-neural interactions.
Dr. Liu is fluent in both Chinese and English, and he continues to advance the fields of microbiology, neurobiology, and translational medicine through his research and editorial contributions to several scientific journals.
Research Interest
Drawing from my diverse experiences, my research interests converge on the intersection of microbiology, neurobiology, and translational medicine. I am particularly intrigued by the potential of microbial therapeutics to modulate physiological processes and alleviate disease burden. Whether through unraveling the mechanisms underlying microbiota-brain communication or leveraging probiotics for therapeutic applications, I am dedicated to advancing our understanding of microbial ecosystems and their impact on human health.
