Dr, Johanudin is an Associate Professor of Strategic Management, Service Management and Hospitality and Tourism Management and Education within the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management University Technology of MARA Penang Campus.

He started his career as an academician in the year of 2000, specializing in Room Division and Food & Beverage Management field at UiTM Shah Alam. While teaching he was appointed as a Room Division Manager at Hotel UiTM Shah Alam. Later, he served UiTM Penang in 2004 after completing his Master’s Degree and was appointed as the General Manager to Hotel UiTM Penang (2004-2006). His vast experience in the industry and academics spans over 30 years. In 2013 he obtained his doctoral degree from Swinburne University of Technology Melbourne, prior to that he attained his Masters of Business International Hotel Management at the University of Queensland (2003), B.Sc. (Hons) Hotel Management UiTM (1999), Diploma in Hotel Management ITM (1997) and Certificate in Hotel and Restaurants ITM (1993).

After graduating from his Doctoral study, Dr, Johanudin was appointed to handle several positions that include Liaison Officer for International, Ph.D. Potential Board Member and Head of Strategic Planning for UiTM Penang, UiTM Penang committee for postgraduate study and Head of Academic Centre for the Faculty of Hotel & Tourism Management, Penang Campus Malaysia. Dr, Johanudin works in several positions before joining UiTM that includes working in a rank-and-file position as a Porter (1990), Night Auditor (1992), Guest Service Assistant (1993) and finally as a Concierge (1994) with some prestigious hotel like Shangri-LaTanjung Aru Beach Hotel in Kota Kinabalu.

Dr. Johan is active in academic undertakings as he is the Academic Advisor to the Hospitality and Tourism Management Students. Currently, he is vigorously engaged in publication (Journal Article writing, International Conference Proceeding, Research and Development, Consultancy, Community Engagements, Government Advisory Board) and a Member to the Malaysian Institute of Management (MMIM) and Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT). In concurrent with that he was also appointed to be an Examiner to PhD and Post-Graduate students.

Currently, he is supervising students ranging from Doctorates to Bachelor’s programs. Dr, Johanudin is also a regular reviewer to The International Hospitality and Tourism Postgraduate Conference, The International Hospitality and Tourism Conference, Chairman to the International Hospitality and Tourism Conference 2014 Penang Chapter, Editorial Board Member to Esteem Journal UiTM Penang, Editorial Board to Journal of Tourism, Hospitality and Culinary Arts (JHTCA), The International Conference on the Future of ASEAN (ICoFA2015) University Technology MARA (UiTM) Perlis,  International Conference on Education and Social Science (ICEdSS2016) and recently appointed as Editorial Board to Journal of Tourism, Hospitality and Environment Management (JTHEM) and reviewer to 6th International Conference on Marketing and Retailing 2017.  

Dr, Johanudin is also an Associate Member to the Malaysian Professor Council.  His experience in industry and academic has qualified him to obtain the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme and Knowledge Transfer Program (FRGS) and Knowledge Transfer Program (KTP) from The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and appointed as an International Editor to the International Journal of Business Studies from the University of Petra Surabaya Indonesia.
